How many total hours is the course?

Each instructional class is 3 ½ hours. The 2 test classes will last 4 hours each.  Students are also required to take a full S.A.T. test at home each week. The total number of hours that the student is putting into this preparation course is 36 hours of class time plus 27 hours minimum working at home, totaling 63 hours of preparation time.  This method has helped students to achieve their high scores.

ABOUT THE ACT

The ACT has 4 sections: Math, Reading, Writing, and Science. The sections contain some similar question types as the SAT. An Essay is optional.

The Reading section is similar to the SAT but without the evidence based Common Core questions. It is shorter in time than the SAT with more questions per minute.

The Math section of the ACT is not Common Core based like the SAT. It is based on the old Math curriculum. It has more questions per minute than the SAT Math sections.

The Writing section is very similar to the SAT Writing section.

The Science section does not exist in the SAT and is unlike any of the SAT sections.

The ACT is a faster paced test and has more questions per minute than the NEW SAT.

Once you have taken the SAT Preparation Course you have the basis for the ACT.

IF you are considering taking the ACT you should be prepared by taking the ACT Extension Preparation Course.

ABOUT THE CHSEE  & TACHS

The CHSEE and Test for Admissions to Catholic High Schools (TACHS) are very different than most standardized tests. The TACHS follows Common Core curriculum and the CHSEE does not. The tests do have some similarities. All these exams are given only once.  Therefore, if the student has a bad day there is no makeup for these exams.

The CHSEE and TACHS change only some of the actual questions, but sometimes completely change the style of the question from year to year.  The student must not only have a grasp of and familiarity with the subject matter and style of question, he must also be able to adjust to a different style of question from section to section.

It is necessary that the students have more class time then is offered by some courses.  This extra class time, along with exercises that the student will do at home, will give them the best preparation that he or she can have to successfully complete a test that can be taken only once.

ABOUT THE SHSAT

The Math section in Common Core based. Some of the material is not taught in all 8th grades. Test taking techniques are taught enable students to complete these Math problems.

The Verbal section is Reading and Grammar, The Grammar is a high level involving punctuation and grammatical laws. The Reading section is Common Core evidenced based reading.
